  Just home from Kew library. Whatever happened to quietness in the library ? They used to be places where one could get a bit of peace and quiet for contemplative thought or reading or studying. Don't expect that at Kew library. Two people sitting at a nearby table talked loudly non stop for 20 minutes until I finally suggested they "keep it down". A woman sitting nearby then voiced her annoyance at them as well. They, of course basically ignored us and kept going but now in hushed tones. As well as this a woman just around the partition was on her mobile phone waffling on loudly about her personal business. Even though we couldn't see her we could hear ever word. On leaving I approached the library counter and asked what the policy was about loud talking and phones in the library. The library attendant informed me in " there is no policy " I then asked " so you can talk as loudly as you want" ? She shrugged ! I left. So obviously if you want to have a talk fest with a few friends or make a few phone calls on your mobile then go to Kew library. There wont be any objections. Well, only from us long suffering patrons !

  Wonderful service, lovely to have. Excellent place to research local history, study, or just borrow great books from their selection.

  Lovely books for kids and friendly reading corners. Blocks, dominos, colouring sets are extras. The library is adjacent to a very beautiful garden where people can enjoy reading under green shades.

  Great library in what was once the public hall. Only remnant left if Kew Civic Centre.
